Outreach
The Community Outreach Program sponsored by Third Coast Rhythm Project in partnership with San Antonio Parks & Recreation touches the lives of area youth in a special way. The outreach offers area youth the chance to color their lives, witness and express beauty and step beyond the limits of their situation. These activities and performances promote human interaction, physical movement, happiness, and for some healing, for youth who may have limited access to the arts due to economic or social circumstances. The artists also enjoy the opportunity to give back in new ways, knowing their talents and time are needed and appreciated.
Cultural Arts Programming has been the hallmark of the San Antonio Parks and Recreation Dept for 75 years. We are very proud of the vital service we provide to the Community in our endeavor to promote a quality of life as we help our citizens aspire to their dreams, providing for many the only available means for introducing art and culture into their lives.
Third Coast Rhythm Project is dedicated to the preservation, presentation, education and creation of all aspects of American tap dance and affiliated percussive dance forms. TCRP builds bridges between diverse communities by presenting inclusive, innovative performances, by giving scholarships to deserving San Antonio area youth and by continuing the tradition of cultural innovation through shared experience. The Parks and Recreation Department’s TAP Outreach Project with Third Coast Rhythm Project recently won the Region 5 & 7 TRAPS Arts & Humanities Award presented at the regional conference in New Braunfels.
